I saw a product at the big orange box the other day and thought of you--it's called a "paint eater"--basically a sander designed specifically for getting tough paint off of surfaces. Maybe that would be worth trying? Instead of using cehmicals (that would have taken less time & work) I'm using a mild soap. It's lots of hard work and scrubbing killing my back too.. it's almost all done.
