I think its a cool mix of modern and "cottage". Is that the overall look you are going for?Hole In One Internationalnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2707732077149679290.post-21971898559309548822006-02-16T06:54:00.000-06:002006-02-16T06:54:00.000-06:00Yes, the floors are a big motivation for me...I ca...Yes, the floors are a big motivation for me...I can't stand the thought of them in boxes in the garage, lol!

Hi Amy,

That is a neat kitchen in the photo, but my kitchen won't really have any modern elements. I used that photo mainly to show the floors we bought. It sure is motivation though to get all the projects in between finished so that we can!! I’m sure you feel the same way!
And sales are always the best way to buy things!! Esp when buying things in large quantities!
We are doing the trim around the windows in the same fashion. I think it gives a more authentic old look to the rooms.
We are going with the "oil rubbed bronze" finish for our kitchen as well. I think its one of the prettiest finishes!
Look forward to seeing your ideas unfold into reality!Jessicahttp://farm.vcdesignconcept.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2707732077149679290.post-182876892356519102006-02-17T15:50:00.000-06:002006-02-17T15:50:00.000-06:00Jessica, how good it is to know someone in the exa...Jessica, how good it is to know someone in the exact same boat, lol! We've been collecting different elements for our remodel for about a year now and I can't wait until they are *all* installed. Everything is such a process...can't intall the countertops until the cabinets are painted...can't intall the sink until countertops are in...can't install the new faucet until the sink is in...can't install the new lighting until the pine planks are installed on the ceiling - Whew!

I think it's neat how we both love old fashioned design. I think we both are nostalgic for an era that we never lived in:)Twice Rememberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05563623309334980893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2707732077149679290.post-92049748736309496362006-02-23T19:45:00.000-06:002006-02-23T19:45:00.000-06:00I have ceramic tile and it is cold and unforgiving...I have ceramic tile and it is cold and unforgiving when it comes to glassware! I think you just can't beat the feel of real wood - it will hold up forever...and even if a prefinished hardwood floor gets scratched up over time, you can still have it refinished.:)Twice Rememberedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05563623309334980893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2707732077149679290.post-59653849329590286712006-03-02T22:13:00.000-06:002006-03-02T22:13:00.000-06:00I've really debated back on forth on the whole flo...I've really debated back on forth on the whole flooring thing. I had laminate before - now I have tile. And I recently waxed poetic on laminate flooring at Home Improvement Ideas Blog but now I think it's definitely got to be the hardwood - its just not the same as the laminate - though I worry about how much care its' going to require.Hole In One Internationalnoreply@blogger.com
