A Good Night's Rest...Finally!
I have horrible hip, neck and back problems stemming from a wooden roller coaster injury a decade ago. We've had our current mattress for about 9 years and though it has slept well over the years, it is time to retire it. I've slept on the couch for the last *three* months trying to get a good nights rest, but the couch isn't much better. So we decided to get a new mattress set. It arrived today and I am thrilled! It didn't take me long to get the bed made and I so badly just wanted to take a nap, lol! I had other things to do, unfortunately, but I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight:)
Our bedroom is tiny and isn't really decorated yet. Who knows when I'll get around to that. But I did decide today to bring the artwork from the dining room to the bedroom just to add a splash of color and cheerfulness. We're working on the dining room and kitchen now anyway so it needs a new place to reside for a while:)

Hi Kim!
I'm catching up on your blog and everything (including the awesome ceiling) is looking fantastic! You two do such great work! Love it! I also am so happy about your new bed... you deserve to be comfortable and a have a good night's rest! Very pretty! Love your new pop of art in that room too - cozy bedrooms are perfectly wonderful, aren't they?

There is a break-in period for a new mattress. Ours took about a month before I could get rid of my feather bed mattress cover. We got a cushion-firm (expensive) Stearns and Foster b/c of husbands back problem. He loves its too-firmness, but I needed a break-in. What kind did you get?

Your house is shaping up so nicely....kitchen looks great and I love the planked ceiling.
BTW the sheets on your bed are so cheery and pretty! Thanks for opening your home to us...I always enjoy visiting.
You know the funny thing is I could have SWORN I left a comment here! *scratches head*
Ok well let me try this again.
Sorry for your aches and pains! Hopefully you were able to have a good nights rest on your new set.
I know after Katrina we were having some pretty stressful days so we opted to buy a feather down mattress pad and oh the blissful sleep we had after that =)
Thinking of you!
Hi everyone! The new mattress is wonderful! The brand is called Englander. We wanted individually wrapped coils and body memory foam for the top layer, and in the name brands, the price was way beyond our budget. The Englander felt just as comfortable and supportive as the others and was a little less pricey. We got the store to knock off the tax and delivery fees and throw in a good mattress pad, all for a grand. We went to about 10 different stores and tried lots of mattresses, but ultimately it came down to what felt the very best and was within our budget. I think we found it!
Kim, it's nice to see you! I have lots of cottage reading to catch up on, too. It's always neat to see yours and others' creative touches:)
Carol, that's so good to know about the break-in period. I've heard it said that you should buy firmer than what you think you need because it will break in a bit.
Thank you, Debi:) I got that sheet (it was just the top sheet) at a thrift store and loved it for it's colors and softness. It has a sateen feel to it. Very comfy! THank for dropping in and seeing what we're up to here...our projects are neverending, it seems!
Blogger can be such a pill! Jessica, you probably did leave a comment and Blogger ate it, heh. Ohhh! A feather mattress! That would be so comfy! We have goose down pillows and comforters, but to actually sleep on top of feathers would be "dreamy"!!!
I could barely wait to get to bed when my new verlo mattress was delivered:) I know how good a great new mattress feels! sweet dreams!
My husband is trying to convince me to buy one of those "sleep number" beds. Just something about them that sounds to hospitalized for me (I'm a Nurse) So, we will continue to flip and punch the old mattress and hopefully find one that we both can agree upon.
