When Photos are Worth a Thousand Words
I need a bumper sticker right about now that says:
"I'd Rather Not Be Remodeling"
LoL. I only have a moment now (my youngest kidlet is with a friend, giving me some much needed time to C L E A N), but I thought I'd pop in and post a couple of pictures that show just where we are right about now. Later this week, I'll explain what we're up to and I'll also be be posting more "Bad and Ugly" vignettes of the house just so you'll know what I mean when I call this place a "glorified shack". You'll see:) In the meantime, if you've been here and done this, feel free to let me know. Misery does love company!
*clicking my dust covered shoes together and saying..."There's no place like anywhere else but here, there's no place like anywhere else but here..."

We can totally relate! My husband is laid off right now so we have been trying to finish some long-standing projects. In the meantime, what a mess! Hang in there. It will be done someday!
Hang in there, my husband and I are restoring our 1928 house. Plaster dust asanding and sanding, everywhere!
Good luck. Tiffany
What is amazing is how that dust gets *everywhere* I'm still finding odd drifts of it in places far away from the remodelled rooms.
One thing that helped me was to have a remodelling off limit zone. No storing of boxes, no random power tools - nothing. Just my little spot where I could escape. The dust still managed to find its way in there though....
I'll echo the sentiments of everyone else - hang in there!
That "HELP" picture is the best! You are so cute.
I can TOTALLY relate!
We're nearing the end of our kitchen renovation and while IT looks better and better, the rest of the house just seems to look worse and worse.
The "overflow" of things usually kept in the kitchen into the rest of the house is just overwhelming: dishes are stashed in the powder room, pantry items and plastic dinnerware are headquartered in the dining room, and coats, hats, gloves and boots have now taken over the living room.
The coffee table in the living room remains the only usable flat surface so it is being used as dining table, homework desk, laundry sorter and all around catchall area. And with the increase in the amount of food being eaten (and spilled) in the living room, I think our carpet is probably ruined (but pulling that up is probably going to be our next project--AT LEAST SIX MONTHS FROM NOW).
I am so behind on regular housekeeping and I blame it all on the kitchen. A major remodel like that always throws everything off, doesn't it?
So, yeah, I can relate.
It will get better, I promise. My post today is one of my favorite verses - Galatians 6:9. Maybe it could encourage you.
LOL, I wish I had remodeling as an excuse. I am stuck with laziness.
I've BEEN THERE! DONE THAT! :) it will be ok just hang in there! xoxox
This,too shall pass.
We are making a 3 bedroom home out of a 1940's army building. The only rooms finished are the bathroom and hallway. The kitchen is getting ripped out next week. I hope it doesn't take too long for it to be done.
Hang in there-it's worth it!
Yep, been there, done that, and need to do some more!
The dust is awful and it clings to everything!
I agree Andrea's comment. It really helps to have a nice area to retreat to.
It's going to be so worth it when you've finished!
Thank you for the encouraging thoughts! One day at a time, right?
I recognize that kind of dust! We redid our kitchen this past fall. I don't think I've cleaned the dust everywhere yet! I've followed your kitchen redo but I don't think I've commented before. It looks fabulous and you used the colors I'm enjoying.
