In backsplash news, I am 3/4 of the way finished with the grouting. I ran out of grout...grrr!!! I was having a really hard time getting the grout in between the bricks with the float and resorted to using my bare fingers - which I do NOT recommend! The skin on the tips of half my fingers is rubbed completely off (due to scraping them against the edges of the brick) and just typing right now hurts like everything. Don't laugh, but I didn't even shower today because the thought of washing my hair is enough to send me into a fetal position. Why didn't I use rubber gloves!!!??? But the backsplash looks great so far! I will finish when my skin heals a bit...

Oh, ouch, ouch, ouch! That makes my fingers hurt just thinking about it! I hope they heal up soon! Meanwhile, the kitchen is looking amazing and I'm working on finishing up a project that I'm going to use for the giveaway, so that will come soon. And I also sent you an e-mail about doing a feature on you on my blog--let me know if that came through. Your poor fingers!.
Been there, done that, use gloves next time. Your fingers will heal quickly, but will be even more sensative next time. Can't wait to see pictures.
Oops! I know I got that email and now I can't find it! Thank you, Cottage Magpie! I would be delighted to have you feature my blog - such an honor! I'm sorry about the email - ugh...I have a lot of catching up to do!
Hehe, Margo, you know the pain, too, eh? I'll definitely be wiser the next time!
Oh, that does hurt! Glad it's looking great, so keep up the good work.

Sorry about your poor fingers! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project.

Ouch! Hope those fingers heal quickly.
What about using a large pastry bag-type thing-y to get the grout between the bricks?
They must make one esp. for heavy duty stuff.
Thats what the workmen across the street were using to fill in between the stones of a sign at the entrance to a new subdivision.
After your fingers get better, you should get yourself a manicure.

As a lab tech I"d say - use lab gloves - they're not super thick, but they keep your hands clean and allow you to still feel what you're doing and have a sense of "feel" and skill when you do home renos and crafts...avoid thepowdered ones though - they can lead to allergies.
Good luck - I bet it works great!
You have been tagged by me...If you have already been tagged, just reference that blog.

Thanks for the tips and been-there-done-thats! It's comforting to know I'm not the only one though I don't wish skinless fingertips on anyone, hehe!
Oh, thanks, Farmer Di for the tag! Fun!
