Sunny Delight - An Update on Buddy Bird + Future Cottage Charm Giveaway Suggestions are Welcome!
We went to view the found cockatiel on Thursday and I'm sorry to report that it was not our Buddy. I had a good cry because I was so hoping that it was him. But on a positive note, we are now the official foster family of a little lost cockatiel. We know someone out there has to be missing their baby (as we are) and hopefully we can reunite them soon. We are calling it "Sunny":) Thanks for all the well wishes regarding Buddy - he's out there somewhere and maybe with a foster family of his own:)
Thanks so much to everyone that has joined up in this years Cottage Charm Giveaway and to others that are helping to spread the word! Last year we had 40 hostesses join within 6 weeks (I started it early last year!)but this year so far, we've had 32 giveaways added in just 11 days - and there's plenty of time left for others to join! That's amazing!
This is something that I plan to do yearly in May. I think that beginning next year, I'll start the giveaway at the beginning of May to give everyone a full month to join. Six weeks was a little long, 2 weeks is a little short, but a month is just right, don't you think? So mark your calenders for May of 2009! I'm already starting to put items away for my personal giveaway next year:)
Next year, I would like to give back to those that are posting the Cottage Charm Giveaway banner on their sites even if they aren't personally having a giveaway - this really helps to get the word out and I truly appreciate it! So I may have a special giveaway just for everyone that posts the banner on their blog, as well as separate giveaways for other giveaway hostesses and everyone else, too.
I love doing this giveaway for several reasons. For one thing, it's a great way for many of us to get rid of some of our excess. There are some things that I know I could easily put in a yard sale or send to Goodwill, but how much more wonderful it is to give it to others that you know share a love for cottage style?! These giveaways are also a great way to discover other inspiring blogs filled with great ideas! My blogroll will probably double after this year's giveaway is over and maybe yours will, too! For those of you who have shops, I think it's a wonderful way to promote your shop (and that's ok - nothing at all wrong with that! I encourage it!). Some shopkeepers are so generous in literally pulling items from their "shelves" to give away. Lastly, it's just so much fun both putting together "prizes" to give away and to also have a chance at winning one or more of the beautiful giveaways!
If you have any ideas, comments, or suggestions for future Cottage Charm Giveaways, please let me know! Thanks again to everyone!

I think what you are doing is wonderful ... both being a foster family to the little lost cockatiel and for hostessing this wonderful giveaway program. I hope that little Buddy comes back to you soon. xxoo
I'm so sorry it wasn't your Buddy. I'm sure some other lover of birds is caring for your Buddy, and looking for you. Keep talking and posting about, maybe they will find you.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I'm so sad to read this post. I was truly hoping that when you posted next it would be to say that you found your special Buddy. I still think there's a chance that he will come back to you, and in the meantime, Sunny could not be in a better foster home. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that Buddy finds you again very soon.
I also think that what you've done for the blogging community is amazing. I was brand new to this community (A Romantic Home was the first cottage blog I visited.), and it's primarily through your giveaway extravaganza that I've found so many other wonderful blogs. Not only are the blogs inspiring, but the women who write them are, too. I also love the "stores" I've found through the blogs, too. Wish I could afford to buy the beautiful items I see, but I can at least be inspired if I can't buy.
Anyway, a huge thank you from my heart to yours for setting up this great way of "meeting" new people. What a special treat it has been!

Sea Mystery, thank you! We're hoping to have him back, too. Whatever happpens, we are happy to have another little one to care for for someone else:)
Debbie - I appreciate that! Yes, you never know what will happen with these little birds. Some folks have gotten their birds back after many months!
Michele, I'm so happy that you are enjoying the blogwide giveaway. I hope you win something special! Thank you for your well wishes regarding Buddy:)
I haven't been around for awhile. Love your new banner!
Kim:
This is the first year I've participated and I can't tell you how wonderful it's been. It has been a great way to get to know others who have the same interests. I'm already going to start thinking about next year. I don't have any suggestions right now, but I'm thrilled that it's going to be a yearly (month long) tradition.

Darn! I was really hoping you'd get your Buddy back! But at least you have a new friend to snuggle with for a while!
Thanks, girls, for your sweet comments!
I am new to blogging and of course the giveaways. I think this has been simple for me to do and a great way to find other blogs that would interest me, as well as some great shopping opportunities. I am not a shop myself, but I have lots of stuff I can give away that others would really like. Thank you for hostessing this activity; I can tell it is a lot of work for you and you do it well.
I'm so sorry the birdie wasn't yours. I do hope you find him.
I have so enjoyed the giveaway Kim. I'm already planning what I want to give next year, this year caught me a bit unprepared. I've chosen my winner and announced it on my blog this morning. What fun!! Yes, a month would be perfect for next years gvieaway. Thanks so much for taking your time to hold this fun event for our awesome blog community. I met so many super new-to-me ladies and discovered some incredible new blogs. xoxo
