A Guessing Contest!

It's Saturday evening and hubs and I just wrapped up another afternoon of working on my studio. We've finished putting in the rest of the trim work (baseboards, trim around the stairs) with the exception of the skylight window trim. He did cut the pieces for me but I want to paint them before he installs them to avoid getting paint on my "sky" mural. Hubs also removed the ugly ceiling fan and the other two ceiling lights so that I can paint them a dark chocolate brown! I've painted one already and it looks a thousand times better. How I wish I could have prettier ceiling lighting altogether but this is a budget makeover and if I can't change the lighting style, I can surely change the color! And as much as I hate ceiling fans (see in the photo how much dust mine has collected!), in this room, one is absolutely necessary. I do have additional lighting that I will be adding to the space, and maybe even a little chandelier above my desk if hubs can make the cord longer. It's been boxed up forever and I'd love to use it).

Now about that contest! I have lots of furniture pieces that I'm making over or building for my new space. I will somehow be using this antique headboard. I bought it quite a while ago for $5 or $10 dollars. Can you believe that!

To the person that correctly guesses what I will be using this antique headboard for in my studio, I will send to them some of my faux candies as a prize:) If more than one person guesses correctly, I'll put their names in a hat and draw a winner. To make it fun, try not looking at the other guesses when you post your guess. I'd love to see what you all come up with! Only one guess per person, please, and you must include a way for me to contact you if you are the winner.

I'm keeping this contest open until I am finished revamping the headboard and probably after it is in it's place in my completed studio...that may be a month or so from now. But the more guesses, the better!

Have fun!

Oh, I forgot to tell you - I decorated my first real cake on Tuesday in my cake decorating class. Hop on over to my other blog to take a look!

I guess a bulletin memo/inspiration board. What a pretty bed. I have another guess but I am sticking to my first one.

Wow! Your faux cakes and treats are so real looking. That is no fair that you can't eat them. I guess when you do all that work it is nice to be able to keep it around rather than eat it and it was a waste of time.

I was thinking a message board, too if you were gonna leave it just like that. I thought maybe you might place it on the wall above your desk with the legs hidden behind the desk.. Of course, I'd love to put some brown and cream toile on it and use it in my bedroom as a headboard :-)

God bless,
Sallie

A bench? It would look great as the back of a bench.

Hmmm. My initial thought would be as a backdrop/bulletin board for your desk--like attatched to the back of the desk at the right height for a 'desk headboard bulletin board'. Does that even make sense? Anyway, hope I'm right!

Everyone is thinking the same. My first thought was inspiration/memo/photo board
also maybe a wall hanging or backing board for a work station to hang tools/supplies on.
What great buy Kim

Happy Sunday, I think that the material on the lovely old headboard lends itself to being a message area!
A bulletin board for your use is my best guess! Thanks for sponsoring such a fun contest. Cindi

I'm hoping it's the back part of a couch or something like that to sit on. It's one thing I've wanted to try myself every time I see a good one. I love following along with all your doing :)

It sure would make a wonderful bulletin/inspiration board, but I also see it as a display shelf (by mounting one or two curved boards) or mirror above with hanging hooks or knobs below. Kathy

You're going to add a blanket box to the bottom for storage which can double as a seat for customers or guests and criss-cross ribbon across the fabric to use as one of those boards thingies where you can slip photos and notes and things in.

As soon as I saw it and if I was putting it in my sewing studio, I would use it as an inspiration board. That's different in a way from a bulletin board as on the inspiration board you pin up scraps of cloth or paint colors or leaves you find or anything that strikes your fancy as soon as you see it. Put the inspiration board in a prominent place and glance at it once in a while. Big ideas will abound! That's my guess.

Hi Kim!
I just saw the cutest headboard that was used as the back of a settee. So that's my guess....you'll be making a settee/loveseat for your studio so your kidlets can sit and watch Mamma create.
OK, now if you don't use it for that, that's ok cause I'm looking for a headboard and footboard to make one for my front porch. Something very shabby chic.
Have fun!

Okay my first guess was a message/inspiraton board of sorts but because that is so popular, I say it will be a place for you to keep supplies like hanging spools of ribbon and maybe some tools. Whatever you use it for, it is a fun piece :o)

I looked at it and in my limited imagination, I could only see a headboard! Just kidding, using all the brain power I could muster (which is about as much as you probably have in your pinky), I got as creative as a bulletin board; it looks like you could put thumbtacks in that thing. Now I wonder what you are really going to do with it? Can wait to see!

It will be a valance for the window that you have in your studio. You'll have to cut off the legs and turn it upside down. Then you could hang some pretty lace curtains behind it.
