When One Sweet Thing Leads to Another
It all started yesterday when my youngest daughter and I sat down with some polymer clay. It led to this...
...because I have always love, love, LOVED miniatures and dollhouses. Remember a few months back when I wrote about Kim's at Dear Daisy Cottage?
Dreaming of making more miniature sweet things led me to discover the dollhouse bakery {more photos!} that belongs to Vicki at Turkey Feathers....**swoon!**
That led me to search for various online stores like Manor House Miniatures that sell the sweetest little doll house accessories...
{Have you just died yet?} Too much cuteness to take in at once!
Finally, all of the above, led me to ordering...
My very own cottage sweet shop.
It is a kit and I will have to build it, paint it, and decorate it from scratch, but the girls and I are up to the challenge. The interior middle walls are removable so we will leave them out to make more space. The downstairs will be the "shop" and the upstairs will be the cozy little kitchen and sitting area for the shopkeeper. The finished dimensions are 21" wide by 21" tall by 11" deep. Perfect!
So, do you see what happens when....one sweet thing leads to another?

Her work is AMAZING!!!
Thank you for the seller info too!
Oh. My. Word. So much cuteness!
Kim,
These are just too adorable -- the gum ball machine, the tiny measuring spoons and utensils, the miniature ironstone collection! You may have started something in the Fairfield House as well! At least you have an area to create it in now!
Also, you have something on it's way to the Twice Remembered Cottage. (See my blog for details!)
Your Friend,
Deborah
That will be so much fun to do with your girls.
Those accessories are very sweet, you have me wishing I didn't sell the dollhouse I had!

Kim, oh my, I just love those! We have the doll house my Great Grandfather built for my Mother but it's not fancy, just a plain little house. I'm hoping when my daughter get's a little older she will be into all those minis! I'm going to have to start looking.... Thanks for the inspiration ~ Kathy

I wish I still had the simple wooden dollhouse that was mine as a child! These things are so cute--that cake stand and sink! What a fun project to do with your girls.
Thanks bunches! Home and Heart, thank you SO much for sharing that link! I'm in total awe! I'm definitely going to be buying some of her tutorials...I just bought a cupcake and macaroon mold from her! I'm so glad you shared her link with me!
Deborah, you should go for it! It's a nice to distraction in between all the "grown up" things we have to do everyday...like being a kid again!
Marsha, going to check out your blog...how fun!
Linden, with your love of vintage toys, etc. I can see you picking up another dollhouse in the future. I'm sure you'd have just as much fun with it now than you did in the past!
Oh I LOVE LOVE LOVE those mini's. When I was little I had a few piece of mini things. I LOVED them. Makes me want them again to put in my kitchen. Sooo cute!
How very sweet!!
I put together a doll house kit when my children were very small. It was a little piece of heaven for me while they napped.
Unfortunately, the house was destroyed in a fire while being stored at my sister's house during a move. :(
I suppose it was only meant for that purpose in my life.
Thanks for sharing.
I just inherited a victorian farmhouse dollhouse from my girls..they finally outgrew it and now it is my time to play. It needs some repairs. My husband made it several years ago for my youngest. When I saw Kim's I went yep soon as they are ready I'm going to make one a live vicariously through it to create my house...of my dreams. Can't wait to see your shop...
they have come a long way since then.
