Days 15 & 16: Kitchen Cabinet Makeover Challenge + A Special Day
Two coats of primer on all the doors and drawers, folks! I was so tired of priming yesterday and really wanted to stop after the first coat. At one point I even cleaned up my brush and said "enough for today!". But...not adding that second coat of primer would put me behind a day, so I ended up pulling the brush back out and finishing up. Remodeling has certainly taught me the value of persistence and pressing forward - that's for sure!
Today, I won't be working on the cabinets at all:) It's a very special day and there are lots of other more important things to do because our six year old, Lindsay, will be graduating from kindergarten tonight. Cap and gown to iron, shoes to shine, flowers to buy...Where have the years gone? Lindsay sure has enjoyed her first year of school and (of course I have to brag a little) she's so smart! She loves to read and is now on a third grade reading level. Lindsay Lou, you should be very proud of yourself! We love you, dear!
Recent "Lindsay story":
Her older sister, Sydney (11), was getting annoyed at her younger sister, Zoe (5), because she didn't yet know how to buckle her own seatbelt and Sydney was always having to do it for her.
Sydney: Zoe...you need to learn to buckle your own seatbelt!!!
Lindsay: *big heavy sigh* Sydney, she has the rest of her life to learn how to do that!

I didn't realize you had one in Kindergarten. My son is about to finish up his Kindergarten year as well.
It's definitely the case with home improvement projects that you sometimes just have to keep going when you don't want to, or you will never finish up.
Miranda: I see a proud mother too :)
Funny conversation between Lindsay and Sidney LOL
Your header blurb is not understood? Could you explain a little?
You have a kindergartener, too? How neat! It was an exciting year:)
Hi Miranda! Yes, very proud of my wee ones, that's for sure!
Shirazi, please let me know what you don't understand. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "header blurb"...sorry:)
Congrats! Our baby girl starts K5 next year. Pretty soon they'll be old enough to help paint ;)
I feel old-my baby girl got married last summer! And those years seemed to fly by too so relish every day with your girls.

So cute! I'm a new fan of your blog...you've done some great projects!
awwwww...congrats to Lindsay on her graduation from Kindergarten! She is such a beauty!
I can still remember my babys graduation from K. My baby will turn 21 in a couple of months and graduate from college next summer. Amazing how that time has flown!
Kim, your perserverence amazes me! You are to be applauded! You Go Girl~
You're right, Ben! Little helpers for sure!
Ahh, Chris, how is it going up there for you?! Did you all receive any flood damage? I hope all is okay... Yeah, I know what you mean. I found a card from my mom that she gave me when I graduated from high school. She mentioned that I might now just how much she loves me someday when I have my own daughter:) That was 14 years ago! Time does fly!
Hello Anonymous! I really appreciate you visiting with me here! Thanks so much coming to my "cottage"!
Thank you, Poppy! *sniff* Holding on to time is like trying to lasso the wind...I wish we could though! Someday *my* babies will be 21 and 31 and 41...wow... I'm sorry your trip was miserable. Poor you:( Reminds of our camping trip last year...I don't even want to think about it!
Yes Kim-we are having flooding here-just a 1/4 mile from my house is extensive flood water but luckily my home is intact and dry. Just never saw so much rain. The rivers are so high and fast-very scary. But the sun is out today, the first time in 2 weeks!
