Today's Thrifty Treasures

his week I'm participating in Rhoda's "Today's Thrifty Treasures" event over at Southern Hospitality. She hosts this every Monday so be sure to check out all the other thrifty finds listed by other bloggers and join in yourself!

Here are a few things I've found recently. Most of what I bring home ends up getting a makeover but a few things are fine "as is".

I bought this elephant clock for $3.99. I transformed it into something completely different and I'm so glad I didn't buy a new clock like I was tempted to do recently. {Edit: See clock transformation here! Stayed tuned - I'll post about the clock makeover tomorrow.}

Silver platter - $1.99

Two large frames - $3.99 each {future project}

Lazy susan - $3.99 {another future project!}

Shoe forms- $3.99

Carved Wooden Box - $1.99

Glass Fleur de Lis Jar - $1.99

Thanks for taking a peek at my thrifty finds and I hope you all have a great week! Oh, and don't forget to check out Dianne's giveaway over at Red House Happenings. If you like aprons, you'll love this one!

Wait'll you see the "ugly as sin" chandy I bought this weekend for $4.00. Bought it for a friend to put in her craft room and I know it's gonna be a beauty someday soon. I want to see that clock when you're done.

I adore the clock, can't wait to see what you do with it. Also bought a lazy susan almost identical to yours. What are your plans with it? I thought I would paint it and use it for my cloche, but not sure? Marla

Thanks to everyone that has stopped in this evening! For those wondering about the clock makeover, you can see what I did with it here...

Marla, how neat that you found a similar lazy susan! I'm going to use mine in my studio to hold little cans or containers of art brushes, glitter, or other little things. I'm thinking of painting it either white or red, and painting a number or image in the center of it. I know it will get covered up mostly, hehe...but details, details! Let me know what you end up doing with yours!

You did get some great finds. I use to have some of the shoe forms but got rid of them several years ago. Looking forward to seeing your redos.

I love the Fleur de lys jar (well, I'm a Québecer after all!)

what are you gonna do with the lazy susan??

(the other stuff are great, too!)

Thanks! With the lazy susan, I'm planning on painting it white or red and then painting maybe a number on it and using it to hold little containers of paint brushes or glitter, etc., for my studio. :)
