For Those of You Who Have Asked About the Antique Replica Bricks...

Good Tuesday, everyone! I hope you all are doing well as you make your way through another week of winter. Spring is right around the corner!

I've had many readers over the last couple of years write and ask me about the antique replica brick pavers that we used for our kitchen backsplash. For a while, I directed everyone to where we purchased them- the tile department at Lowes.

But then suddenly, I couldn't find them there anymore. My plans were to use the same brick for our fireplace surrounds and now that the time is drawing close to work on the fireplaces, I've been starting to get a little antsy.

I said that when I find out something about the pavers, I'll let you know. Well, today I called Lowe's to see if I could possibly order the bricks even though they didn't keep them in stock. But sadly, I was told that the company that produced the bricks went under two years ago when the economy plummeted. Eek! I was so disappointed! I was also told that these particular brick pavers were one of their best sellers, but they haven't been able to find anything similar to replace them. *le sigh*

I wish I had better news for those of you also searching for this product. If any of you happen to find anything similar to these bricks, even online, please do let us know!

On a personal note, I am feeling much better now. I went to my first Zumba class last night and it really gave me a good work out...just what I needed! Now, I just need to work on eating a lot more of this...

{Okay, maybe not the cheese so much...}

Today I'm working on a craft project that I'm eager to share with you a little later in the week. Stay tuned!

I was so sad to hear that they aren't available any more. I am determined to find some one of these days, because I love the look. I want to do that to my backspash when we install new counters...one of these years. Thanks for the inspiration.

Until I read your post, I have had a love/hate relationship with my backsplash made of the same thing. When I bought my house, the bricks were painted randomly white, metallic pink and metallic baby blue - all in glossy paint. UGH! It was not pretty (to me). One day I just simply could not stand it anymore and slapped some white on it. I tolerated it for a while and recently when I had some painting done in my house I let the painter paint them and I am not so sure I like the way she decided to do it. She used the color we were using for trim and painted the bricks and left the “grout” area white. Looking at your white brick backsplash makes me want to go back to the simple white. Funny how seeing it somewhere else makes you appreciate yours more.

I too loved the brick pavers from Lowes as my girlfriend did a wall of it in her kitchen, but then I could not find them. I did find a company online called brickit (www.brickit.com) I belive, I haven't used them personally but they are one of the few with quite a variety.

Sorry you can't find your bricks anymore. :( I just hate it when I find something I love and then they do away with it. (or in this case, the co. goes belly up)
This is the first time I've visited your blog...I found you through the post card exchange link. :)

I LOVE your backsplash. I will keep my eyes open for them, and if I come upon them, I'll sure pass it on. Also -- good for you doing Zumba. That's a tough class. I'm glad you're feeling good!

Oh no, say it ain't so! I was considering the brick paver or antique tin back splash. Are they hard to clean if you get grease on them? Thomas calls me the locater -- if it's out there I will find it! If I find them you will be the first I share it with.

Take a nice warm bath and relax those zoomba'd muscles.

So glad your feeling better! I have been dealing with a head cold and ready to be done with it! I love those brick pavers and it is so hard when something you love can't be found anymore. I hope you will be able to find something similar to what you had in mind. Can't wait to see your craft project! Hugs friend,

Hey Kim ~ It's good to hear you are feeling better. I know I can't wait until spring.
Sorry the brick pavers went under. I know how frustrating it is to find the right thing only for it to disappear.
Here's an idea just to throw out there - we took solid bricks and cut them in half with a masonry blade on the tablesaw. {You can cut depending on which look you want - floor or wall}. We had only a couple break on us. And we still used those...like around the corners where we needed only a half a brick, ect. But that's what we did for our bathroom floor - since we didn't want the full weight of a brick floor & to help stretch out the few bricks we had so we could have enough. It worked out really good for us. But its certainly an outdoor project with all the brick dust it makes!
I've been thinking of doing the same around my stove to make it look like there was once a fireplace there {since we are creating a new old house}.
Anyway just an idea - more work yes but we love how our floor came out!

Take a look at Z-Brick for another possibility for your brick.

Oooh, thank you for all the resources! I'm going to go through them and see what I can find. Hopefully something similar!

Jessica - that's a great idea as well...I remember now when you guys did that with the brick! I would be so afraid of actually doing it, but I'm sure it's not really as scary as it sounds...slicing bricks! I loved your floor!

The zumba class was just wonderful...I was sore the next day, but that's because I'm SO out of shape!

Welcome to those of you who are first time visitors...thank you for dropping in, as well as to you "old visitors" {you know what I mean I hope!}
